Dorothy was born to Verne and Mary Taylor on July 5, 1925. The youngest of five children, she lived her formative years on the family farm in Fairview, Illinois. She married her high school sweetheart, Navy Ensign Eldon Harden, on July 13, 1945.
The couple eventually settled in Naperville, Illinois. Dorothy was active during her 25 years in the Chicago area. She assumed various roles at her church, participated in the Garden Club, and served as a member of the Edward Hospital auxiliary. The couple retired to Arizona in 1982.
Dorothy will be remembered for her steadfast devotion to family, her appreciation of good romance novels, her fondness of playing cards (Pinochle, Gin, and Bridge), and her love of singing (with or without chair dancing). She was also known as a cruising enthusiast. Alaska, Hawaii, and the Panama Canal were among her favorite voyage destinations.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her spouse of 64 years, infant son, parents, three brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa (Harrison); granddaughters Sarah (Harrison), Emily (Atchley), and Amanda (Riggs); and, Great-grandsons Liam and Ethan Atchley and Hunter Riggs. All reside in Mesa, Arizona.
