He married Cora Evelina Hunt March 12, 1891.

He was a farmer and member of the Blue Mound Methodist church, and the Golden Rule Anti-Thief Association.

Survivors include daughters, Mrs. R. T. Brown, Mrs. Oel Slusser, Mrs. Mary Duff and Anna Hefley; sons, Hobart, George and Harry; 22 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
