Ruby met her husband, John Batts Jones, while visiting her sister May Conoley's family in Oviedo, Florida. John's father was John M. Jones and was originally from Savannah. he moved to the area in 1876 and was one of the older and most respected residents in Oviedo. He owned a mercantile business and his son followed in his footsteps after his father died. Before that time, he was a railroad conductor.
The couple was married in Valdosta in December of 1905 and had three children, John Batts Jones Jr, James Malcolm Jones, and Benjamin Harris Jones.
The family lived in a nice house at 196 Magnolia Street in Oviedo. It still stands. John passed away in 1940 and Ruby's son Benjamin built a ranch style house across the street. Ruby lived there until she died in November of 1969. She and her husband are buried close by in the Oviedo Cemetery.
