She was born December 4, 1913 in Stephens County, Oklahoma to parents Robert Lee and Ethel Johnson Shortes.
Besides her daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Bernell and Mrs. Marilyn Tharp, she was also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Irene Reed of Hobbs, New Mexico and Mrs. Ina Lee Folk of Odessa, Texas.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stephens were held August 24, 1990 at Graham's Mortuary Chapel followed by burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens cemetery.
