Opp, Sandra "Sandy" R. (Lakeman) age 73, with family by her side, found peace in heaven on May 27, 2023. Sandy was born on September 11, 1949 in Brookings, South Dakota. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Helen Lakeman; brother-in-law, Bob Larson. She will be deeply missed by sons, ; grandchildren, ; sisters ; many other family and friends. Sandy was a wonderful, hard-working woman who cared deeply for her family, friends and all animals. She was always willing to lend a hand, no questions asked. She enjoyed attending her grandkids' activities and, earlier in life, playing cribbage and painting ceramics. She attended as many football games, gymnastics meets, softball games, swimming meets, and lacrosse games as she could for her sons and grandchildren. Sandy even figured out how to stream her grandkids' events if she wasn't able to watch in-person. She had a special love for animals and was a real "dog and cat whisperer"! In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations to the Animal Humane Society are preferred. A special thanks to the staff at Autumn Glen and the ICU caregivers at Mercy Hospital. A celebration of Sandy's life will be held at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church of Plymouth (12235 Old Rockford Rd, Plymouth, MN) at 11am on Thursday July 20, 2023, with visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery, Brookings, SD.
