Aaron James Acuff, a loving and friendly man with an interesting life, passed away peacefully at IU Health-Bloomington Hospital on September 1, 2023. Born on October 23, 1963, in the same city, he spent his entire life in this community that he loved so dearly.

Aaron was a devoted family man and is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Helen (Bixler) Acuff. Their love story was one of true partnership and mutual respect. He was a proud and loving father to his children, James Mathis (Amy), Angela Bixler, and Jessica Mathis (Lee). His joy was multiplied by his eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought immense happiness into his life.

Aaron was the son of James Acuff and was a dear brother to Ann Acuff and Lisa Bixler (Raymond). He was also a cherished in-law and uncle to many nieces and nephews. H

e was preceded in death by his mother, Martha (Baynes) Acuff; son, Chucky Thacker; and brother, Allan Acuff. His family was his pride and joy, and he loved nothing more than spending time with them.

Aaron was a hardworking man who spent a significant part of his career as a logger for Harmon-Crone, among other companies. His strong work ethic and dedication to his profession were admired by his colleagues and friends. Despite the demanding nature of his work, Aaron always found time to engage in his hobbies and interests.

An avid outdoorsman, Aaron had a deep love for nature and the open air. He was passionate about horse riding and caring for horses, often spending his free time in their company. He also enjoyed fishing and riding four-wheelers, activities that allowed him to explore and appreciate the beauty of his surroundings. Aaron was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, where he formed many lasting friendships and found a sense of community and spiritual fulfillment.

Aaron was a man of many strengths, but his most notable qualities were his loving nature and friendly demeanor. He had a knack for making everyone around him feel comfortable and valued. His interesting stories and experiences, often shared around a campfire or during a fishing trip, will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him.
