Daniel Dodgen, 68, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines after a short illness.

A Celebration of Dan's Life will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Tompkins Celebration Center, Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. A time of gathering for family and friends will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday at the Tompkins Celebration Center. A family burial will be held at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge.

Daniel is survived by his wife Eileen; stepchildren Scott (Thera) McMahan of Coalville and Becky (Dean) Habhab of Fort Dodge; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson on the way. He is also survived by his 3 siblings, Bruce Dodgen (Paula Virtue) of Des Moines, Barb (Pat) Colwell of Humboldt, and Kristol (Russell) King of Ness City, Kansas.

Daniel Barrett Dodgen, the son of Jack and Marilyn (Campbell) Dodgen, was born May 20, 1955, in Fort Dodge. He was a member of the 1974 graduating class of Humboldt High School. After graduating from high school, Dan was employed with Fort Dodge Sign. He later sold waterbeds in Minnesota before opening up his own waterbed store in Fort Dodge, Waterbed Connection. Dan also owned the Ye Olde Candy Store in Fort Dodge. For the past 26 years Dan was employed at Friendship Haven in maintenance department.

Dan met Eileen Lewis in 1990 and they married in 1999. The couple made Fort Dodge their home.

Dan started playing drums in Jr. high school. Together with a group of friends the band Crosstown Traffic was formed. He was also in the band was called Shadrack. Their album was Shadrack Chameleon which they recorded themselves and produced 300 copies. He also played drums in several other bands, especially the Sir-Velles in Fort Dodge.

"Dan was a giver. He's the guy people called when they needed something…"
