Raymond Glenn (Mac) McFarland (81) passed away peacefully on September 3rd, 2023, in Dallas Texas after a brief illness. Family and friends were blessed to be able to share love and memories with Ray in the days leading up to his passing.

Born on October 7, 1941, in Jackson Michigan to Ellis and Kathleen McFarland, Ray grew up in the San Jose, California area with his older sister Bev. Ray joined the U.S. Navy in 1959 where he was trained in Aviation Ordinance. He spent most of his service on land but did go out on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk and U.S.S. Ranger for a time.

In 1961 he met a girl from Texas who was out in California visiting her sister. Six weeks later he and Sarah Ann Williams would wed and remain devoted to each other for almost 58 years until Sarah's death in 2019. The couple moved to Texas in the mid 60's and Ray would become a precision sheet metal mechanic - which basically means he could build you just about anything out of metal you could think of. Ray retired in 2000 and the couple moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where Ray could spend time rebuilding an old truck in his "Garage Mahal" and travelling with Sarah in their RV to visit the kids or grandkids. After Sarah passed, Ray moved back to Texas to be closer to family, living in Quitman by Lake Fork.

Ray was predeceased by both parents and his sister as well as his beloved wife Sarah and his youngest son, Michael, who passed away in 2011.

He is survived by his oldest son Morris Glenn McFarland, daughter-in-law Sandra McFarland, daughter-in-law Theresa Weldon-Raecke (Scott), granddaughters Kathleen and Sarah Raecke, niece Beth Haefs (Rick), grandnephews Coy Rosenbaum (Diana) and Lee Rosenbaum (Elizabeth) along with great grandnephews Jaxon, Preston, Dylan, and Colton Rosenbaum.

Ray will be remembered as a giant of a man - not because he was tall, which he was, but because he had a giant heart and soul to match.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Clarksville Funeral Home, 100 W. College Avenue, Clarksville, TX 75426. Military honors provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Burial to follow at Avery Cemetery.
