Carriel M. "Buddy" VanHook, 57, Broadway Street, Somerset, died Sunday, October 16 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born September 24, 1948 to the late Marcum VanHook and Fannie Helen Glover McGowan. He was a retired groundskeeper for Somerset Cemetery. He was an avid country music fan. He was of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include three sons, Darriel (and fiancee, Marilyn Bryant) VanHook, Somerset, James W. VanHook, Somerset, and Jerry L. (and Tabatha) VanHook, Ft. Campbell; a daughter, Leisa Jane VanHook, Somerset; sisters, Alfreda Stevenson, Alta Tomlinson, Bernadine Walker, and Carolyn Ping, all of Somerset; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Gathel McGowan.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, with Bro. Johnny Dunbar officiating.

Burial will be at Piney Grove Cemetery #1 in Somerset.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18 at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are by Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
