Mark Schwarck of rural Whitten danced his way into heaven on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

Mark was born on April 19, 1954, in Eldora, Iowa, one of three children born to Glen and Phyllis (Swanson) Schwarck. He grew up near Whitten.

Mark received his education by attending the Union-Whitten Community School where he graduated with the Class of 1972.

After high school, he worked for Jay and Neil Hadley, and later worked for Gianetto's in Union for a few years until he started a lifelong farming career, which included selling seed corn.

On December 27, 1980, Mark married Barbara Cook at the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church. After their marriage they settled on the Schwarck family farm where they raised their two children Garrett and Lauren.

Mark enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, dancing, playing cards, and was an avid Cyclone fan. Mark and Barb thoroughly enjoyed the band Triple Threat, traveling many miles to hear them play. He was full of life, adventurous, and always up for a good time. Mark was a giver, whether it was helping people in need, welding projects for loved ones, or making special items for the grandkids. Even on Mark's final day he gave the gift of life to two people through organ donation. He put his talents to use many times making items for community fundraisers and volunteering. Mark enjoyed the Hardin County Fair, where he volunteered for many years helping at the swine show, fair clean up, and numerous projects around the fair. He was a member of the Union Community Church and the South Hardin Rec. Center where he served on the board.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Barb; his children Garrett and Lauren Schwarck; honorary children Jared and Angie Cook and Janelle and Casey Guiles all of Union; his grandchildren; one brother Lyman Schwarck of Union; one sister Glenda (John) Hanson of Guttenberg; one brother-in-law Richard (Dawn) Cook of Clive; and many other relatives and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Phyllis Schwarck, mother and father-in-law Frank and Phyllis Cook, and brother and sister-in-law Robert and Joyce Cook.
