A resident of Jackson Township, Clyde E. Herring, 87, died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, March 6 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Herring was a carpenter. He was a member of Local Union 615 and had retired in 1983. He attended Warren High School.
Born Aug. 11, 1918, in Wells County to Daniel E. and Rebecca Jane (Bricker) Herring, his marriage on Oct. 10, 1942 in Bluffton was to the former Ruth Booher, who survives.
Additional survivors are two sons, Bob Herring of Bluffton and Gary Herring of La Fontaine; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Joyce) Luckey and Mrs. Don (Sherri) Carroll, both of rural Jackson Township; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Charles F., Homer L., Wilsie E., Norval M., Levi E., James J., and Kenneth E. Herring, and five sisters, Blanche L. Smith, Lulu M. Huffman, Nora E. Powell, Grace A. Cole and Mabel M. Moriarity.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Glancy Funeral Homes - H. Brown & Son Chapel in Warren with Rev. Ron Herring officiating and burial in the Asbury Cemetery at Montpelier.
Calling at the funeral home will be today from 2 to 8 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to Caylor-Nickel Home Health Care and Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.
