Samuel DeLoach grew up on the 400 acres of his father on the south side of Red Bank Creek, south of Saluda, South Carolina. in 1819 he sold his 200 acres of his father's farm

Sam is listed by others as a Revolutionary War soldier, serving in Captain W M Butler's SC Militia.

He married Ferriby Burton in Edgefield, SC, as she is listed on the 1819 deed. His move to Alabama has not been dated, but he was in Pickins County by the time of the 1830 census.

Samuel DeLoach received a patent on Sept. 20, 1939 being number 17708, located in Section 22, Township 19 South, Range 15 West for 80 acres, the N 1/2 of the NE 1/4. His homesite was located about one half mile south of the current day community of Coal Fire and US Highway 82
