Bonnie Jeanne Plummer Williams
1931 - 2023

Our beautiful, beloved mother, Bonnie Jeanne Plummer Williams, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in Provo, Utah, at the age of 91. She was born September 29, 1931, to Edmund Gail and Elva Swindle Plummer in Salt Lake City, Utah, the oldest of two children. Although it was just the small family of four, her home was always filled with extended family, friends, students, and guests. Her grandparents, aunts, and uncles lived with them throughout her years at home. She spent much of her childhood at the University of Utah's Kingsbury Hall, where her father, Gail, was the manager and her mother, Elva, kept the books. As a very young girl, she played the child in Puccini's opera "Madama Butterfly" with soprano Hizi Koyke. Later, she graduated from East High School at the early age of 16. She attended the University of Utah, and it was there she met her future husband, Wilfred Kay Williams. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on July 16, 1953, while Kay was on leave from the U.S. Army's Officer Candidate School during the Korean War.

Following graduation from the University of Utah, Bonnie and Kay moved to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where Kay served as an officer. Soon after, they moved to Northern California, where Kay received a Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University. They returned to Utah for a few short years, living in Provo, Orem, Tremonton, and Brigham City, where Brian, Tracy, and Mindy were born, but they soon returned to the San Francisco Bay Area and settled in Sunnyvale, California. During their time there, Robin, Rick, and Matt joined the family. Bonnie spent countless hours loving and caring for us and providing service to others. There were often wonderful smells coming from the oven, usually for someone in need (to our great disappointment). One full wall in our living room displayed all the temples. She made our home a haven where the spirit was felt by all who entered; it truly was heaven on earth to us. Bonnie and Kay spent 30 wonderful years in California before returning to Provo, Utah. They were married for 60 years before Kay's death on April 23, 2014.

Mom is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and deeply loves the gospel of Jesus Christ. She has served faithfully in too many callings to count and has given her all in each one. Her love and compassion for others has led many sisters to draw closer to the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Mom and Dad have served three full-time missions together: Minneapolis, Minnesota; Nauvoo, Illinois; and the Salt Lake City Family History Center Mission. Prior to and following her missions, she dedicated herself to family history and attending the temple, her favorite place on earth. She also served as an ordinance worker in the Nauvoo, Illinois and Provo, Utah temples. She has continued serving family, friends, and strangers throughout her entire life. Mom and Dad have been dedicated and unwavering in their lifelong commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ and to literally loving their neighbor(s). We will always remember kneeling together in family prayer, daily scripture reading, and Family Home Evening without fail every Monday night, which often included the many neighbors and acquaintances who were invited to join us. These missionary home evenings led to many eternal, priceless friendships.

Along with her unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ, Mom's greatest treasure and legacy is her family. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Louise Roos Plummer, as well as her six children: Brian Kay and his wife, Liro (Laguna Niguel, California); Tracy Gail and his wife, Lynn (Ridgefield, Washington); Melinda Lee Ammons and her husband, Mark (Provo, Utah); Robin Linn Gibby and her husband, Darin (Lone Tree, Colorado); Richard Glenn and his wife, Kyra (Whitehall, Montana); Matthew Aaron and his wife, Tisha (Sandy, Utah). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jenni Doss (Curtis and son, Collin, and daughters, Soleil and Luna), Rebeca Van Sciver (Brian and sons, Jaden, Roman, and Brian, and daughter, Jream), Lisa Anderson (Hunter and daughters, Olive and Penelope), Michael, Amy Pelerine (Joey), and Kevin Williams; Katherine Henrikson (Sam and son, Sawyer, and daughter, Nora Jo), Kyle (Emily), Aaron, and Emma Williams (son, Quinton); Christopher (deceased), Jonathan (Brianne and daughter, Sydney, son, Harrison, daughter, Oakley, and son, Charles), Elizabeth Davis (Eric and sons, Christopher, Jethro, Donovan, and Ezra), Hilary (Greg and daughter, Cynthia) and William (Kylie); Madeline Brown (Nick and son, Boden, and daughter, Josephine), Nathaniel, Isabel, and Talmage Gibby; Adam, Mack, and Finnean Williams; Benjamin (Alex), Isaac, Annie (serving a full-time mission in San Jose, California), and Gabriel Williams. Three more great-grandchildren will soon join our family. What an incredible and grateful posterity, Mom!

Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Kay Williams; parents, Edmund Gail and Elva Swindle Plummer; brother, Thomas Gail Plummer; and grandson, Christopher Mark Ammons.

Mom has set an example of sure, unshakable faith, integrity, true compassion for others, and unconditional love for us. She is our constant. We are forever grateful for the example she has set for us, her posterity, and feel privileged to follow her lead until we are together again.

"Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength . . . ." (D&C 4:2)

We love you, Mom. Thanks to you and Dad, our family is FOREVER!
