The deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Carlisle, pioneers of Erath County. He was born in Dublin on November 13, 1876. On November 2, 1898 he was married to Miss Abbie Barrett. To this union four childresn were born, three of whom, with the wife, survive. They are: Mrs. Ethelda Alexander, Austin; Mrs. Tom Woodruff and J. B. Carlisle, San Angelo. Other survivors include three grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. A. H. McCleskey, Dublin; two brothers, W. E. Carlisle, Plainview, and George W. Carlisle, Ballinger.
For many years, Mr. Carlisle was employed as a rural carrier by the Dublin post office. Later he was interested in the real estate business. Since his leg accident, he has been engaged in the making of maps for corporations.
