ElRoy Jay "Butch" Erickson, 79, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Idaho.
Butch was born in Blackfoot, Idaho on March 22, 1943, the son of Glen and Ivy Erickson.
He grew up on a farm in Moreland, Idaho, where he attended schools. He had a horse that he loved named Penny. He worked on the farm, then he worked for Blackfoot Motors. He also worked at a recycling company.
Later, he went to a group home, and has been going to Joshua Smiths for several years. He spent his lifetime living in Idaho.
Butch was a member and elder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Although Butch never married, he was a big part of his sisters lives and their kids. He loved animals, especially dogs and horses. His dad took him to dry farm up in Pocatello. He enjoyed spending holidays with his sisters. He had a lot of movies and loved watching them. He was an excellent bowler, and bowled every week, and enjoyed going out for dinner. He spent the last years of his life going to Sandra and Gary Ponds for weekends and holidays also.
Butch is survived by his sister, Della (Doug) Keeler of Shelley ID; brother-in-law, Errol Draper of St. Anthony ID; nieces and nephews, Sandra (Gary) Pond, Annette (J.D.) Fultz, Jessica (Paul) Ziel, Tom (Hillary) Keeler, Aaron Keeler, Angie (Bryce) Owen, Lana (Nathan) Hope, Tammy (Paul) Miller, Danny (Lorilee) Draper, Kurt (Kim) Draper, Marcie (Allan) Smoot, Stacie (Scott) Stanger, Valerie (Mike) Hutchinson, Travis (Michelle) Draper; 56 grandnieces and nephews and 43 great grandnieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Ivy Erickson; an older infant brother, Glen William Erickson, and his sister, Elouise Draper.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2022 at Hawker Funeral Home. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Moreland Cemetery.
