Ray grew up in Brookfield, Illinois and had many stories of antics with his 4 other siblings. He met his wife, Patricia at Western Illinois University in August 1969 and were together since then.
Ray was a wonderful father and grandfather who could always be found attending all of the children's activities ranging from baseball to soccer to band wearing his neon orange sweatshirt! He was available to help at all times.
Ray spent 50 years of his life committed to serving the community of Wheaton, Illinois as Superintendent of Recreation and Special Facilities for the Wheaton Park District, and then, in retirement, first served as the park district's interim Executive Director and then on their Board of Directors until his death. He was instrumental in helping as co-chair of the Wheaton Sesquicentennial Commission, member of the Sensory Garden and Playground Foundation, board liaison to the Coseley Zoo Foundation, Kiwanis Club past member, Center for History Board, and Wheaton Youth Baseball/Girls Softball Board to name a few. He was always looking for ways to involve teens in programs and provide jobs to provide them with safe outlets to prevent boredom and crime. He truly felt this was a responsibility of the whole community and he took this responsibility seriously. He also strongly endorsed the lessons in the story "The Wizard of Oz". If you believe in yourself you can face your challenges bravely like the "Cowardly Lion", solve your problems intelligently like the "Scarecrow", and love your family and friends with a heart as good as any human like the Tin Man".
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Morrill; daughter Jeneen Hiller; grandchildren Kiley and Jack Hiller; brother Thomas Morrill; and sister Donna Mecklenburg.
He was preceded in death by his son Chad Morrill; brother's Charles and Richard Morrill; and parents Raymond and Evelyn Morrill.
