Alice graduated from Mountain View High School in 1955 and then attended cosmetology school in St. Louis, Missouri.
She married Ralph Spence on December 21, 1955 in Columbia, Missouri, and to this union, three children were born.
Alice was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family. She enjoyed crocheting and doing crossword puzzles.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Omar and Dory Bates; three brothers, Charles, Chelmer and Carl; two sisters, Alveena Smith and Aleta West; her husband, Ralph Spence; and one grandson, Brett Gaghyan.
Survivors include two sons, one daughter, two sisters, one granddaughter, one grandson, and one great granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2008 in Yarber Chapel.
Interment was in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Mountain View, Missouri under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri.
