Michael Arvis Brasfield, 64, known as "Pops" to his grandchildren and "Arvis" to his friends, passed away suddenly on August 27, 2023, at NMMC in Tupelo, surrounded by his family and friends. Mike was born May 14, 1959, in Amory, Miss. He graduated in 1977 from Amory High School and Rhema Bible College in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1978.

Mike excelled in baseball and football in high school and continued his love for sports as an adult, playing and coaching softball. Pops loved nothing more than watching his grandkids play softball, baseball, soccer, and archery.

Mike spent most of his career working in the oil and gas industry and traveled the world, bringing back souvenirs and trinkets to his family. No matter where he traveled, he always loved coming home to Monroe County.

Mike married Caroline Harmon on October 10, 2010, with a small family ceremony on their farm in Amory. After retirement, Mike enjoyed sawmilling, gardening, woodworking, cooking, and most of all loving on his many beloved dogs.

Mike is survived by his wife, Caroline Harmon Brasfield of Amory, his daughter, Corie Brasfield Jones and husband Jason of Madison, Hope Smith Williams and husband Joshua of Amory, Dalton Smith of Amory, his sisters, Pat Brasfield Simmons (Woody) of West Point, Kim Brasfield Pierce (Sam) of Vestavia Hills, AL and brother Dennis Brasfield (Wanda) of Amory; his grandchildren, Lucy and Jack Jones, Olivia Moore, and Laila and Jon Brandon Williams, and a host of nieces and nephews and his mother-in-law Ella Ruth Patterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Casper and Margaret Brasfield and his maternal grandmother Elaine Cummings Cox.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 12-2 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life at 2 p.m. at The North Mississippi Worship Center, 30054 Lake Monroe Road, Aberdeen, MS 39730 with Pastor Dudley Nash officiating. A private family burial will be held at Hatley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Brasfield, Woody Simmons, Sam Pierce, Will Owings, Ryan Simmons, Jason Jones, Jack Jones, and Joshua Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Amory High School Class of 1977.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Amory Humane Society, 1317 Old Hwy 6, Amory, MS 38821.
