Arthur 'Art' C. Benner, 97, of Duncansville, formerly of Altoona, passed peacefully on Saturday. He was born in Altoona, son of Chester T. and Ethel L. (Fink) Benner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debbie Turiano; companion, Ruth Williams; and 8 siblings.

Art served in the US Army during WWII as a ball turret gunner. After his service to our country, he spent his career as a conductor/brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad & Conrail.

He enjoyed bowling; ballroom dancing, especially the Jitterbug; politics; and poker. Art was a scratch golfer, and a great day to him was on the golf course with his golfing buddies. He especially loved spending time with his grandson and best friend, Troy.

Friends will be received from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Thursday at The Good Funeral Home, Inc, 108 Alto Reste Park, Altoona, PA 16601. Interment with military honors will take place at Alto-Reste Park at a later date.
