Rev. Albert Kuiper, 36 years of age, died Tuesday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Kuiper, 414 west Frank street. He had been ill about a year of paralysis. For ten years he had been a prominent pastor in Hawthorne, N. Y., and was highly esteemed in that place. He was born in Kalamazoo June 10, 1869, and received his early education in the public schools of this city, later entering Hope college, Holland, Mich., from which institution he graduated. He then took a three years' course in the Theological seminary in Brunswick, N. J., where he graduated with honors. He accepted a call in the Hawthorne church in 1896, but owing to ill health was compelled to resign last March. He leaves besides the parents, four brothers, Joseph, Louisville, Ky., and Louis, John and Bert, all of Kalamazoo. In speaking of his work in the church the Manual of Reformed Churches says: "The Unionville Reformed church at Hawthorne, N. Y., is one of our old Home Mission churches. Its late pastor, the Rev. A. Kuiper, whose failing health compelled him to relinquish his charge, did much, not only for the spiritual but the temporal advantages of the church, the building, yard and surrounding burial ground having been greatly improved during his pastorate. It is now one of the best examples wo have of the old-fashioned country church and is very attractive." Kalamazoo Evening Telegraph November 22, 1905 page 10
