Jesse Gordon Brown, of Hyrum, Utah, passed on July 9, 2023, in Logan, Utah, from a heart attack. He was born November 15, 1933, to James Jesse Brown and Malinda Selena Leavitt.

Jess was a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division, 187th Regimental Combat Team, and 101st Airborne Division from 1953-1956. His main job in the Army was parachute rigger. He also made jumps testing parachute modifications and did some heavy drop work. He made over 30 parachute jumps.

Jess married Shirley Dean Finn on January 18, 1956. They moved to his farm in Homedale, Idaho where they had two children, and he raised dairy cattle, alfalfa seed, hay, grain, and corn. He moved the family to West Point, Utah in 1962, where he'd been promised a job at Hill Air Force Base. When he learned the job wouldn't be available for two years, he quickly found work with Roto-Rooter until he started at HAFB. He packed parachutes for a year, worked in electronics for 13 years, and worked for the Utah Test and Training Range for 14 years before his retirement from HAFB. He was also a professional farrier for 15 years concurrent to this time. He was active in the Beehive Cutter and Chariot Racing Association.

Shirley passed December 9, 2006, after more than 50 years of marriage. Jess married Janett Cox Henrie July 4, 2007, and they moved to Hyrum, Utah in the spring of 2009.

Jess enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, quarter horses, four-wheeling, dancing with his sweetheart, and his grandchildren. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his entire life and was proud of his pioneer heritage.

He is survived by his wife, Janett; a son, Ray Marshall Brown (Patti); a daughter, Tamara Brown-Johansen (Brad); Janett's daughter, Linda Bodily; Janett's son, John Henrie (Trish); 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Shirley; two grandsons, Sean Marshall Brown and Trenton Bodily; Janett's son, Ronald Victor Henrie; as well as his sister, Linda Ann Robinson.
