J. W. Agee was born the son of Monroe Dean Agee and Clara Seina Brown Agee on Aug. 21, 1924 in Paragould, AR. He died Jan. 16, 2007 in Thayer, MO, at the age of 82.

He was united in marriage May 3, 1947 in Paragould, AR to Bonnie Lea Diles.

He was a veteran, serving in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as manager for several service stations and car washes in Memphis, TN, for many years. After moving back to the Thayer area in 1972, he continued that line of work and also worked as a police dispatcher for the Thayer Police Department. He was a member of Thayer Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Agee was a faithful member of the Thayer Church of Christ, where he was known as the "gum man" to many children.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Thayer, MO; two brothers, Eugene Agee of Calhoun, MS; and Charles Agee and wife, Betty of Magnolia, TX; one sister, Roberta Morgan and husband, James of Woodland, CA; numerous other relatives, friends and "children of the heart", nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Clarence, Alfred, M.D., Harold, Elgin and Bobby Joe Agee; three sisters, Inis Mayo, Berniece Lewis and Valeline Warren.

The funeral services were Jan. 20 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, MO. Burial followed in the Thayer Cemetery at Thayer, MO, with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.

Pallbearers were Terry Agee, Greg Agee, Travis Agee, Larry Agee, Brandon Boozer and Tim Boozer.
