The Valley Falls New Era
Thursday
October 14, 1915

Johanna Marie, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex ABBUEHL, was born near Valley Falls November 8thm, 1901 and fell asleep in Jesus home October 8th, 1915, aged 13 years and 11 months.
"Marie" gave her heart to Jesus when she was 10 years old and united with the Coal Creek Evangelical church in November 1911 and remained a faithful member of the same till she was called to her eternal home.
She was active in Sunday School faithful in everything entrusted to her care.
She was quiet and cheerful in her disposition, industrious in her work, patient during the years of her sufferings, resigned to her lot and faced the end with a cheerful smile.
She leaves to mourn her departure her parents, one brother, one sister and a host of relatives and friends.
"Thy gentle voice now is hushed
Thy warm, true heart is still
And on thy young and innocent brow
Is resting death's cold chill.
Thy hands are clasped upon thy breast
We have kissed thy lovely brow
And in our aching hearts we know
We have no darling now."

For some years Marie had been afflicted with diabetes and during the past year had several severe attacks. She always looked forward with the hope of final recovery but on Wednesday evening her hope was in vain and she quietly passed away Friday at 3 a.m. o'clock.
The funeral took place at the Coal Creek church Saturday afternoon. Rev. E. W. PETTICORD of Kansas City read the scripture lesson from john 14 1-14. Rev. E.F. BOEHRINGER of Cummings offered up prayer and Rev. PEEK spoke very touchingly on the story of Jarius' daughter. Rev. BEOHRINGER spoke a little while on the quiet, earnest life of Marie.
A large concourse of friends and relatives followed the remains to their final resting place in Coal Creek cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
Six girls, members of her Sunday School class, acted as pall bearers.
"Darling Marie she has left us,
Left us, yes, for a little while;
But we hope we meet our loved one
On that bright and happy shore."

We desire to thank our neighbors and friends for the assistance and sympathy shown us during the sickness and death of our daughter and sister.
