Charles Clayton McFarland was the son of John Albert Clayton McFarland and Susie Forrest (Rodman) McFarland. Charles married Martha Anna Ramsey on October 10, 1943 in Hamlet, Richmond County, North Carolina. Charles and Martha celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on October 10, 1993. Charles and Martha had 2 sons, Charles Albert McFarland and Steven Russell McFarland. Charles served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWWII and served in the European Theatre of Operations. Charles was a corporal in Exter, England helping to set up for the D-Day invasion of France. He was awarded a battle star for 7 aerial campaigns (Normandy, Southern France, Northern France, Rome-Arno, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe).
