Woodie Gene (Pop) Capps went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 23rd at the age of 82 years old. Pop was born on April 10th 1941 to Lester and Cora Capps of Devine. Pop joined the Air Force at the age of 17 where he completed his education. After serving in the military he worked in the oil field for 40 years followed by H.B. Zachary until he retired. He spent his remaining years as the official greeter at Devine Acres Farm where he made everyone feel welcomed.

He married the love of his life, Rosalie on August 14, 1965 in Sabinal, TX. Together they raised two children and built a beautiful life together that now includes 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, with one more on the way.

Together they have supported their family in every single aspect of their lives. Pop was so proud of all his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and he never missed an opportunity to let them know just how proud he was and tell them, "Pop loves you." The impact Pop had reached far beyond his family. He was known throughout the community as Pop. He had a way of making everyone feel special and always had a handshake for the men and his signature kiss on the forehead for all the women. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosalie, his daughter Cynthia Gan, his son Kenneth Capps (Debi), and grandchildren Kenneth Gobar (Trish), Anthony Gan (Katharine), Eric Gan (Cheyenne), Tiffany, Megan, Wesley Gan, Joshua Capps (Brittany), Emily Morales (Ernie), Mason Capps (Alyssa) and Abbie Capps. Nine great grandchildren James, Alexander, Madeline, Grace Gan, Elijah, Emmett, Everett Morales, Audrey, Kenneth Capps, with one more on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Cora Capps, brothers Robert, Loyd, Joe, Edward, Wayne, Pat, Jack and sisters Betty and Edna.

Pallbearers include all six grandsons: Kenny Gobar, Anthony Gan, Eric Gan, Wesley Gan, Joshua Capps and Mason Capps.
