Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great great-grandfather, brother and friend, LaMar Christensen, 86, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 in Provo, Utah.

He was born on September 12, 1921, in Center Creek to Hyrum and Lila Thompson Christensen. He graduated from Wasatch High School where he was an all-star in football, basketball and baseball. He married his sweetheart, Norma Rae Lewis on June 8, 1940 in Provo. They were sealed in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple, September 12, 1950, on LaMar's birthday. He served in many callings, as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his country in the U.S. Army Occupational Forces in Japan during World War II. Dad was a gifted athlete and treasured the years he played on the unbeatable Center Creek M-men basketball team. He had an unforgettable memory and loved sharing the details of his winning shots and victories. Dad found great joy in cheering on his sons, his grandchildren, and his favorite high school, college and professional teams. He also enjoyed bowling and playing the harmonica. He was a dedicated farmer, dairy farmer, sheep rancher and registered American Quarter horse breeder. He raised and trained many champion show, performance, flat racing and chariot racing horses. In 1983, his team won the World Chariot Racing Championship. Dad was a hard working, perfectionist who took great pride in a job well done. His most valued moments were spent with his grandchildren feeding a newborn lamb, teaching them how to ride a horse, or taking them on a 4-wheeler ride around the farm -- this was time well spent, never time wasted. He was a shining example of reverent faith, unconditional love, honesty, a tireless work ethic, and sheer dedication to the land that he loved and all that is vital to happiness and a long productive life. His powerful energy, working hands, weathered smile and contagious laugh will be cherished forever by all who knew and loved him.

LaMar is survived by wife of 68 years, Norma Christensen; his children, Jerry and Carolyn Christensen, Marcia and Bud Remund; daughter-in-law, Barbara Christensen; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Christensen; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Christensen and Dorothy Christensen. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Christensen; grandson, Billy Chris Remund; brothers, Garold Christensen and Harold Christensen; sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Howard Ballard; and sister-in-law, Lynile Christensen.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at the Heber City East Stake Center, 2395 South Mill Road, Heber City. Friends and Family may gather at the Heber City East Stake Center on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and from 11:30-12:30 p.m. prior to Services.
