Mrs. Hallie Roberson Handy, age 98 of Stuart, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. Mrs. Handy was born in Patrick County on February 28, 1910 to the late Charlie and Lourinda Handy Roberson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Handy was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Handy; two daughters, Dorothy Holt and Elizabeth Dalton; one grandson, Greg Handy; three brothers, John, Greely and Faye Roberson; and two sisters, Etta Reynolds and Myrtle Reynolds. She was a member of Stuart Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Handy is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Geraldine Handy of Stuart; two grandsons, Keith Holt and Timmy Handy; two sisters, Ruby Slaughter, and her husband, L.E., of Stuart and Dorothy Reid of Melbourne, Florida; a son-in-law, Charles Holt of Mount Airy, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Handy will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Stuart Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Bernard Handy officiating. Burial will follow in the Roberson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and at other times at the home of her son, Bobby Handy. If desired, memorials may be made to the Stuart Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Ray Roberson, 1611 Dobyns Road, Stuart, Virginia 24171. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
