Born in Dante, Va., she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Margaret O'Conner McCarty.
She was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church at Richlands and had served as church treasurer for several years. Anna Mae was active in the W.M.U and the XYZ organizations of the church. She also taught Sunday school for a number of years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. (Bill) Altizer; one son, Rodd Altizer; and two granddaughters, Heather Altizer and Tish Langston.
She is survived by her daughter and a grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted (today) Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with the Rev. Norman Langston officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
The family will receive friends (today) Tuesday from 6 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m.
