Wife of Well-Known Hollander Dies as result of Peculiar Accident Leaving Baby born Wednesday Night.
With the thought in her mind that her baby must at all events live, Mrs. Richard Heystek, 38 years old, 420 west Patterson street, died at her home early this morning. Nine children are motherless, the oldest 16 years and the youngest the baby born Wednesday night. The circumstances attending the death of Mrs. Heystek are sad in the extreme. Four weeks ago, while busy about the house, a large deer head fell from the wall, and struck her in the back. The shock was so serious that paralysis resulted and her left side became useless. During the weeks that she lay on her back, Mrs. Heystek thought only of the expected child. Patiently she bore her suffering, in the hope that all would be well. When the death summons came this morning, the mother's thoughts were still of the little one, and she died with that thought in her mind. It is expected the baby will live. Mrs. Heystek was the wife of Richard Heystek. one of the most popular and influential Hollanders in the city. She was born in the Netherlands, her maiden name being Nellie Skipper. Ten years ago, with her husband and family, she came to this country, locating in Kalamazoo where the family continued to live. Mr. Heystek Is well known as a contractor, and has a large circle of friends and business associates. He has fulfilled many city contracts, as well as handling some large private enterprises. He is one of the most popular and influential Hollanders in the city. The funeral will be held at the home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock Burial will be at Riverside.
