Thomas George Anthamatten, Jr., age 59, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023 in Quinlan, TX. Tommy was born on August 31, 1963, in Tulsa, OK, to Thomas George Anthamatten, Sr. and Peggy Jean Barnett. The family moved to Mesquite, TX at a very young age where he resided for most of his life. Tommy graduated from Mesquite High School in 1982. After marrying Tessia Lee in 1983, they had three children. Tommy and Tessia's bond was strong enough to remain friends after dissolving the marriage.
Tommy was a master carpenter, specializing in custom cabinetry. He was the owner/operator of TNT Carpentry until his health deteriorated. Tommy was a free spirit with his easy-going personality, being fond of fast cars and rock 'n' roll music. In his younger days, he owned many different hot rods, enjoyed going to concerts and going toe to toe in the boxing ring.
Some of Tommy's fondest childhood memories came from camping and fishing with his siblings and cousins at his grandmother's lake house in Oklahoma. He continued this tradition by taking frequent trips to Oklahoma with his own family, spending weeks at a time camping and fishing. One of his favorite destinations was Turner Falls.
Tommy's children were his pride and joy, and he held his grandchildren in the same esteem. He took his job as father and grandfather to heart and he was their greatest cheerleader, giving them the confidence that they could conquer the world. Tommy prided himself in attending all of the events involving his children, from softball/baseball games to watching his daughters cheer and dance at football games. He continued this tradition with his grandsons making it to every baseball game that he could right up to the day he passed away. Most importantly, Tommy received salvation as a young man and ensured that his children would come to know Jesus as their savior. He was not a man of great monetary wealth but he would give you whatever he had, even if it meant he would go without. Tommy said regularly to his family and friends, "if you need me before you see me, you know how to find me" and he meant it. He was a great supporter to all who knew and loved him.
Tommy is preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Anthamatten; sister, Regina Anthamatten; brother, Shawn Anthamatten. He is survived by his father, Tom Anthamatten, Sr.; son, Thomas 'Trey' George Anthamatten, III (Kaley); daughters: Kassidy (Josh) Perkins and Karen (Chris) Rhoades; siblings: Chad Allen Anthamatten and Michelle (Kevin) Treadway; grandchildren: C.J., Blaze, Hazel and Charleigh. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will also miss Tommy.
