Elsie and Nelson lived in Clarkson for around 6 years before migrating to Michigan. Together they had 12 children, 11 of whom we know the names of. Their children were: James Lewis (14 Jul 1848 - 7 Dec 1918) who married Lorinda Rebecca Hart, Charles R. (1851 - 13 Dec 1927) who married 1st: Jennie L. Seeley and 2nd: Millie A. Burns, Samuel Edwin (1858 - 1931) who married Wealtha Ann Wright, Calvin (1859 - ?), Frank C. (24 Feb 1860 - 12 Apr 1905) who married Anna M. Hunter, Harvey (1862 - ?), Margaret (1864 - ?), Anna (1865 - ?), Henry Burton (19 Apr 1866 - 1 Dec 1913) who married Lottie (last name unknown), Harriet C. (1870 - ?) who married George K. Barber, and Milton Ward (4 Apr 1873 - ?). A note of interest, the Ludington Daily News stated that in 1881, the Nelson Cooper family in Lincoln Township had lost 3 of their younger children to diphtheria within a few days.
