Mrs Jane Dodge Barnett, an aviatrix and sister of Donald Dodge of 220 Pondfield, died last Tuesday in Elgin, Ill. after a long illness. She resided at 425 Clapier St Germantown, Philadelphia. Mrs Barnett, who was forty-two years old, became a licensed aviatrix in the late 192Qs and was commander of the Third Corps Area of the Betsy Ross Flying Corps. She also was a charter member of The Ninety-Nines, International Organization of Women Pilots.

A daughter of Kern Dodge, former Director of Public Safety in Philadelphia, Mrs Barnett made her debut there in 192. She was graduated from the Agnes Irwin School and attended the old Shady Hill School in Chestnut Hill. At one time she was a member of the Philadelphia Club. Besides her father, Mrs Barnett is survived daughters Fayal and Lucy Jane, another brother Robert Dodge of Delaware and her grandmother Mrs James Mapes Dodge of Philadelphia.

The ashes of the former wife of J. A. Barnett, an official with the Lever Brothers Soap Company, were interred in Highland Lawn Cemetery with several members of the family coming to Terre Haute for the ceremony at the Isaac Ball Funeral Home. A minister from New York, a friend of the family, conducted the ceremony. The ashes are to be placed in the Charles Kern mausoleum, built nearly 50 years ago.
