Son of Phil Ray French and Ada Bell Parsons French. He was salutatorian of the graduating Class of Red Bud High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a past master and 68-year member of the Coosawattee Masonic Lodge #306 at Pine Chapel and was the oldest living member. He was also the oldest member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He was retired from the poultry industry. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ova Lee Gravitt French; daughter, Lisa Ann French; three brothers, Ray French, A W "Dub" French and Willard French; sister, Charlcie French Burns; great-granddaughter, Olive French; and son-in-law, Ted Thompson. Left to mourn his passing are his children, Phil French, Kent French, Craig French and his wife, Laura, Stuart French and his wife, Janet - all of the Red Bud Community, Marie French Reeves and her husband, Steve of Zebulon, GA, Brad French and his wife, Nancy of Washington state, Carrie French Thompson of the Red Bud Community, and Cheryl French Hughes and her husband, Niven of Ringgold, GA; sister, Betty Jo French Pass; sister-in-law, Jean French; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
