PEORIA – Brendan J. Batson, 58, of Peoria, formerly of Morton, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at his home.

He was born on June 24, 1965, in Aurora, Ill., to Ernest and Marlynn (Linden) Batson.

Surviving are his siblings, Pat Batson of Woodson Terrace, Mo., Marlynn "Jo" Langham of Lehigh, Fla., Ernie (Mary) Batson of Fort Collins, Colo., Mike (Alice) Batson of Cape Coral, Fla., Bridget Batson of Peoria and Sean Batson of Pekin; sister-in-law, Jennifer Batson of Chillicothe; 12 nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephews.

Brendan was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings. Dorothy "Dot" Batson and Terry Batson.

He was a middle school music teacher and band director for 27 years in District 50 in Washington, IL. His students will remember him for his "California Raisins!" Brendan loved music, his French horn and the Chicago Cubs. He was a grill master and loved competing with his friends at the annual grill off.

He was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria, IL.

Brendan was a member and former past president of the teachers' union and also the band directors' association. He was in Peoria City Municipal Band.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
