Daniel Marker, a Captain in the War of 1812, was a well-known gunsmith in both Maryland and in Ohio. His weapons are highly collectible and have been written about by two members of the Ohio Long Rifles Association. In 2005 I had the privilege of holding two of these rifles which he probably made for about $25.00 each, but today they are worth thousands of dollars. Daniel left his silver mounted rifle, in his will, to his youngest child, Christena.

Daniel married his first wife,Christena Beckenbaugh May 9, 1797 in Frederick County, Maryland. Eight children were born of this union even though there were martial difficulties which can be found in the court records of Frederick County. He married two additional times, with one daughter by his third wife.

Daniel and Christena Beckenbaugh Marker are my ggggg-grandparents, through their oldest son, George Marker.
