Claire O'Neill Armstrong

Claire Marie Armstrong (O'Neill), 88, of Marshfield, born and raised in Dorchester as the youngest of 14 children, died peacefully on Sunday, January 16, to join her husband of 57 years, Arthur Armstrong.

Beloved mother of LIVING. Known as a very strong minded woman, in her mid-thirties Claire fulfilled her dream to go into nursing. She graduated from Jordan Hospital School of Nursing as an LPN and worked for decades at Jordan Hospital, then later did private duty nursing. She and her husband loved to travel | Russia when it was still the USSR, Africa riding elephants, European alps in a VW, Alaska wilderness tour and so very many cruises. Claire loved the home they built as young 24 year-olds and their "Christmas in July" pool parties were a big extended family event. Entertaining her grandchildren pool side and tending to her flowers always brought her such joy.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St. in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will then be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Christine Parish Church, 1295 Main St. in Marshfield. Interment will be in the Marshfield Hills Cemetery.
