U.S. Veteran Carl F. Ahlich of Reed City entered eternal life Friday, March 28, 2008, at Spectrum Hospital, Reed City. He was 82 years old.

Carl served with the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre, serving in the Headquarters of the 8th Army, in the recapture of the Phillipines and as part of the Occupation Forces in Japan.

Following his military service he attended Ferris State College graduating with a degree in refrigeration. He was employed as the manager of Dickerson Lumber in Reed City until 1970 when he formed Ahlich Construction which he ran in addition to farming.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion George A. Samis Post No. 78, Reed City. Active in the community he was an honorary BPW member and was responsible for building Santa's House and the Roth St. Park concession stand.

He was married August 15, 1952, to Dorothy Blank who survives. He is also survived by his son Bruce of Traverse City, daughter Debra (Al) Ahlich-Remus of Reed City, his brother Harold (Frances) Ahlich of Tucson, Arizona, and nephews Dirk, Kurt and Ross.

Funeral services: Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dean Davenport officiating.
