John Ashbury Wesley Line was the son of Reuben and Ann Walther Line. His father, a Union soldier, died May 3, 1863 in the Battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia. John married Anna Florence Sauer on February 4, 1877 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This union was blessed with eight children: Emma Minerva, Anna Florence Lizzie, John Albert, Carrie Delta, Jacob Foster, Esther Iona, Evelyn Marie and Wanda May. John Line was a cabinet and coffin maker. He was the Post Master of Detroit, KS at the time of his death. He was 58 years old when he passed away due to peptic ulcers.
