George Paige was born on June 17, 1725 in either Hardwick, Massachusetts or nearby Billerica. He was the third of ten children that are identified (though there is evidence that there were 12 children), and his parents were Deacon Christopher Paige and Elizabeth Reed. George's grandfather Nathaniel was an early settler of Massachusetts, and began the Paige/Page legacy in the United States. He immigrated from England in 1685.

George served in the American Revolutionary War as a Private and a Fifer. He served alongside many other Paiges, and according to Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the War of the Revolution, served for Captain Timothy Paige's company and Colonel James Converse's regiment. George enlisted August 21, 1777, marched to Bennington on an alarm, and was discharged August 31, 1777.

George's children were: Nathaniel, Asa, George, Rhoda, Nathan, Paul, Pierce, and Anna.
