PIONEER RESIDENT PASSES

Mrs. Anna Freeland Spent Over 40 Years in Sherman County.


Mrs. Anna Freeland, 70, pioneer Sherman County resident, died at her home near Brewster, Saturday, Feb. 19.


She was born at Sterling, Ill.,. April 18, 1856 and married James H. Freeland, Feb. 8, 1877. They homesteaded in Sherman County in 1886 and Mrs. Freeland lived on the homestead until her death. Mr. Freeland and one son, Earl, died a number of years ago. Four children survive: Roy Freeland, of Bird City, Kan.; Mrs. Bessie Jones, of Seibert, Colo.; Mrs. Ethel Lister and Mrs. Lena Hartley of Brewster, Kans. She leaves, besides her family, nineteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Watson, of Peabody, Kans., and Mrs. Jennie Fender, of Seward, Neb., and a host of friends.


Always patient through her long suffering, always mindful of those doing good and grateful for every deed of kindness, she will be greatly missed from the home and by all the neighbors and friends.


Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. M. R. Starbuck at the home Monday and burial was made in the Freeland cemetery.
