"A. Irene Beers Lewis, 77, St Joseph, died Saturday evening, Jan. 4, 1992, at a local hospital following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Lewis was born in DeKalb County, Mo., and resided most of her life in St Joseph. She had lived in Savannah, Mo., five years. She was co-owner of the Acme Machine Co., with her first husband, Leroy Fleet Beers, from 1957 until her retirement in 1979. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the First United Methodist Church and of the women's circle of the church.

She married Lester E. Lewis in 1983. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include three sons, Gary R. Beers of Savannah, John L. Beers of Carrollton, Texas, and Claude E. Beers of Imperial Beach, Calif.; three sisters, Illa Higdon, Twyla Norris and Erma Kelly, all of St Joseph; a brother, Herman L. Steiner of St Joseph; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1978; a daughter, Mildred J. Pitonak in 1989; a son, Bobby R. Beers in 1990; and a brother, Gust Thomas.

Services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Meierhoffer-Fleeman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery." St Joseph News-Press, January 6, 1992
