Mrs. Lula Bullmaster of 514 North Sixth street (sic) announces the marriage of her daughter, Ethel Marie Shannon, to Harrol (sic) Copelan (sic) of Kansas City, which took place Oct. 26 in Kansas City. Mr. and Mrs. Copelan (sic) will reside in Kansas City.

Ethel M. Whitson
1912 - 2001

Ethel M. (Shannon) Whitson, 89, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Whitson was employed in children's apparel for 15 years. For 35 years, she had been a housekeeper and nanny to the children of Milton and Grace Day.

Born in St. Joseph on March 4, 1912, she was a lifelong resident.

Mrs. Whitson was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she was active in St. Ann's Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella; and Heartland Hospital Guild, all of St. Joseph.

She married Ralph Whitson. They were later divorced.

Mrs. Whitson also was preceded in death by a daughter, June Pearson; and her parents, John and Lula Shannon.

Surviving: her friends, Milton and Grace Day, St. Joseph; and their children, Allison Day, Coconut Grove, Fla. and Douglas Day, Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Service: 1 p.m. today, Horigan Chapel of Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 11 a.m. today at Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service, St. Joseph, where there will be visitation from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to her church.
