Jerry was born August 23, 1938, to Lois and Knox Barnes in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
After graduation from Central High School in 1956, Jerry attended and graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas in 1960.
Jerry excelled at his career with Blue Ridge Carpet Mills in Ellijay, Georgia where he advanced to Vice President of Global Sales. After a successful career, Jerry began his second career as an Advertising Executive with Gannett Industries in Atlanta, Georgia until his retirement in 2014. During his retirement Jerry spent his time traveling with Marti, reading, cooking, enjoying his family and of course, cheering on his Baylor Bears.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Lois and Knox Barnes.
He is survived by his wife Marti Barnes, brother Larry Barnes of Fayetteville, Tennessee, sister Nancy Carol Vincent (Denny), of Versailles, Kentucky, seven children, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Visitation will be held Saturday August 12, 2023, from 1-3 pm at First Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Tennessee.
Burial will follow immediately in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
