Sarah was born 1824 in Indiana to Joseph Erwin and Margaret (Penney ) Erwin. Sarah Ann Erwin and Josiah D. Clawson were married January 1842. they lived most of their married life in Shawnee Township, Fountain Co., Indiana. Their children were; Garret b Dec. 1842- d. Murfreesboro , TN 1863, buried Stone's River Battlefield National Cemetery; Deliah ( 1844- 1846); Benjamin (1850-?); Rachel(1852-?); Allen (1855-1941); Cebe Florence(May1858- 1951); Emma (1862-1952); James(1867-?).
