Josiah D. Clawson and Sarah Ann Erwin were married January 1842.In Fountain County, Indiana. they lived most of their married life in Shawnee Township, Fountain Co., Indiana. Their children were; Garret b Dec. 1842- d. Murfreesboro , TN 1863, buried Stone's River Battlefield National Cemetery; Deliah ( 1844- 1846); Benjamin (1850-?); Rachel(1852-?); Allen (1855-1941); Cebe Florence(May1858- 1951); Emma (1862-1952); James(1867-?).

Obituary for Josiah Clawson:
Josiah Clawson, an old and highly respected citizen of Shawnee township, died at his home between Rob Roy and Fountain last Thursday night from the effect of a stroke of paralysis which he suffered on the Sunday before. The deceased was 83 years old and had resided in Shawnee township the greater part of his life. There survive five children, Allen. and James and Mrs Charles Gummert of Shawnee township, and Mrs.Sebie [Cebe] Pearson of Cayuga. The funeral was conducted at Brown's Chapel last Saturday afternoon.
