Bobby Dan Cathey, 78, Benton, died on April 3, 2008. He was born on October 23, 1929, in Thornton, Arkansas, to Frank and Docia Cathey. Mr. Cathey was retired from Alcoa, a Royal Arch Mason, a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, an avid golfer and member of Trace Creek Country Club. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a Christian and member of First Baptist Church of Benton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Frances L. Cathey; two sons, Charles S. Cathey and his wife Sharon, Dan M. Cathey and his wife Karen all of Benton; three granddaughters, Olivia Cathey and Kayla Shirey of Benton and Meredith Shirey of New York.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Old Rosemont Cemetery in Benton by Ashby Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Grant officiating.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Anderson, Tray Anderson, John Bethel, Justin Bethel, Jack Leech, Charles Reynolds, Mark Smith and Nubbin Wray. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim H. Graves, Dr. Stephen Greer, Jim Hester, Tony Hogue and Dr. David Stewart.
Visitation will be at 418 West Ashley in Benton.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Saline Memorial Hospice House.
