On August 14, 2013, he married Rosemary Oakley, an old friend from Greensburg.
Marlin served in the U.S. Army at West Point for 3 years (1943-1946). He graduated from Purdue University in 1950 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and a member of Eta Kappa Nu. Marlin received his Professional Engineering license in 1954 and was employed by Indianapolis Power & Light for 38 years. He was longtime member of Franklin Road Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Purdue Alumni Association, the John Purdue Club and a member of the American Legion Post 220 for 29 years.
Marlin is survived by his wife Rosemary; children, Michael Ford (Barbara), Donald Ford (Cathy), and Cheryl Walker (Kelvin); grandchildren, Marcia Thompson (Ross), Brian Ford (Anthea), Sharissa Johnson (Greg), Jason Ford (Cindy), Chistopher Walker (Lindsey), Daniel Walker (Angela), and Melissa Walker; thirteen great-grandchildren; and stepchildren, Earl Oakley (Linda), Karl Oakley (Mary), Jane Oakley-Cameron (Jim), and Mark Oakley (Judy).
Marlin is preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Nelle Wolford; sisters, Lena Platt and Mabel Bass.
