I remember my grandmother Whittle as very dainty and petite. My mother said she had great pride in her appearance. She rolled her hair each night even the night that she died. She was very loving and giving. Almost always my mother went home with something her mother had given her; a pretty vase, a tablecloth, a cutting from a new flower. She loved flowers and always had the porch and house full. This she passed on to my mother and my mother on to me. She also loved cats, and this sometimes presented a problem; she had a dear neighbor who loved birds. She was mother to ten children.
