Mrs. Hockenbroch Was Buried Today
Mrs. Sarah Quilla Hockenbroch, wife of Wallace A. Hockenbroch, died Monday at her home, R. D.1, Mt. Pleasant Mills, in Perry Township. Although under the care of a physician for the past several years, Mrs Hockenbroch was not ill and her death, caused by a heart attack, was unexpected. She was 73.
Born April 2, 1894, at R.D. 1, Liverpool, Mrs. Hockenbroch was the daughter of Jacob L. and Mary A. Sechrist Meiser.
She spent her entire life in the Oriental area and attended the Perry Township public schools. On May 13, 1916, she was married to Mr. Hockenbroch.
Mr. and Mrs. Hockenbroch engaged in farming all their married life, and also operated a huckster route in the Selinsgrove and Sunbury areas. She was a member of the Oriental Church of the Brethren, R.D. Liverpool and was a member of the Lades' Auxiliary of the Reliance Hose Company in Middleburg.
Surviving were her widow; one daughter, Mrs. H. Palmer (Betty Jane) Mengle, of R.D.1, Liverpool; three grandchildren; Truman Hockenbroch, of R. D. 1, Mt. Pleasant Mills; and Renee and Janice Mengle, of R.D. 1, Liverpool; two great grandchildren Mark and Trisha Hockenbroch, of R.D. 1, Mt. Pleasant Mills; one sister, Miss Verna Meiser, a guest at the Mengle (Nursing Home, Richfield. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert, a grandson and three brothers.
Her funeral services were held from the Garman North-Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Mills, with her pastor, the Reverend John W. Sellers, officiating, assisted by the Reverend Ira G. Brandt, Deacon of the Church of the Brethren.
Interment was in Barner's Church Cemetery, R. D. 1, Liverpool.
