She was born in Ohio to Henry Preston and Florilla M. (Lockwood) Preston. She was the second oldest having an older brother Eri and three younger siblings, Anna, Ebenezer, and Jess.
We find her in the State of Kansas in mid 1880's, marrying Francis Marion Hopper (Frank) on October 22, 1885, in the town of Independence, Kansas. Amy was 2 years older than her groom, Frank. I know they moved to the Kansas City Metro area and had a Boarding House and Breakfast that she ran in the Kansas City downtown area. (I am researching info on where and welcome any help!) I know Frank, her husband, was a farmer at one point during his life but unsure where or when, or if they were married or not.
She and Frank had one child, Jennie Hopper, when Amy was 40 years old.
On the 1920 Federal Census, we find the couple is 67 years old (Amy) and 65 years old (Frank) and have a boarder listed as living with them. Mr. Irwin is the boarder's name, and he is a widower working at The Brick Yard as a foreman. Seems Mr. Irwin was a co-worker with Frank Hopper because Frank Hopper is listed as a driver at The Brick Yard.
She died on a leap year. Feb 29, 1936, and, she is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.
(I would love any information anyone has on her or the family! Please email me! I am a great-great-grand-daughter of Amy and Frank Hopper.)
